A new block of flats in Wortley would provide homes for young adults with assisted living needs, if planning consent is given.
Fifteen apartments are planned for land off Lower Wortley Road under proposals submitted to the council by applicant Paul McFadden.
Self-contained one-bedroom flats would be built at the site, along with a manager’s office and accommodation.
A planning report said: “The likely occupants will be young adults. The proposed development will create a sensible number of new homes for the area.
“This development is not city centre executive apartments or executive five-bedroom houses.”
A new access road would be created at the site, along with parking space for 18 vehicles.
Applicant Paul McFadden, of Redcote Lane, was last October granted permission for a development of 13 flats at the site.
Planning permission would allow a previously undeveloped site to be brought into use, the report said. It added: “It has become scrub land and its redevelopment into residential use is seen as an enhancement, not only to the site but also to the wider community.”
A design and access report submitted by the developer concluded: “The proposed development of the site to form residential units is a considered response and will provide a high-quality development in a sustainable location.
“The design has been developed with the benefit of continuous dialogue with the LPA and has sought to incorporate local residents’ comments where practical and appropriate within planning policy.”
Leeds City Council’s planning department will consider the application, which can be read in full here.
