A telecoms firm has launched a fresh bid to install a 20-metre mobile mast after previous plans were blocked by the council.
Mobile Broadband Network Ltd (MBNL) is seeking permission to fit 5G equipment on Armley Ridge Road.
The installation would provide network coverage for mobile operators EE and H3G.
Last November Leeds City Council refused an application to install the mast on nearby Outgang Lane in Bramley, citing road safety concerns.
The applicant said an alternative location was needed to replace an existing mast on top of Raynville Court, a block of flats due to be demolished.
A letter from MBNL said: “After extensive research of the area and attempting to deploy a mast in the highway off Outgang Lane, this site was considered the next most appropriate and effective solution.”
The company said a new mast was needed to prevent a gap in mobile coverage “with consequential loss of connectivity for the local area, including residents, businesses and visitors.”
The new location was on a grass verge opposite the junction with Raynville Road and 550 metres from Raynville Court.
MBNL said: “It is essential for telecommunications equipment to be positioned close to the communities being served, ensuring the delivery of a reliable and effective service.
“It is also important to acknowledge that the height of the proposed installation has been kept to a minimum, balancing visual impact with operational requirements.”
An application for prior approval planning permission is out for consultation until September 1.
