Wyther Lane: Week-long road closure will allow substation work

Northern Gas are due to start the first phase of works to install their new governor/substation in the canal car park on busy Wyther Lane.

To carry out the works safely they will need to close the Wyther Lane at its junction with Broad Lane, in Kirkstall.

The closure will come into force on Friday night (19th March) at 7.30pm and the road will remain closed until the following Friday, with a diversion signposted along Broad Lane and Raynville Road.

This diversion will provide access to the industrial units on Wyther Lane.

Phase two of the works will immediately follow on and will require the weekend-only closure of the Wyther Lane/Bridge Road junction from Friday 26 from 7.30pm until Monday 29 at 6am, with traffic diverted onto Leeds and Bradford Road.

Temporary lights have been installed at the opposite side of Wyther Lane due to the damage caused to the canal bridge after an accident earlier in the week. Northern Gas say this shouldn’t affect the work.

There is no proposed date for the bridge repair yet. The repairs are being organised by the Canal Trust.
