Woodhall Road junction improvements get council green light

Council chiefs have given the green light to carry out £20,000 highway works to improve the Gain Lane/-Woodhall Road junction in Thornbury.

The works are part of an employment development on Woodhall Road, which is an unadopted road, which were approved by Bradford Council in December 2017.

Work includes:

Widening the junction of Woodhall Road and shifting the junction east to provide adequate visibility and separation to the adjacent zebra crossing across Gain Lane.

  • A central refuge to assist pedestrians and cyclists to cross.
  • A bus stop will be relocated approximately 30m east of its current location and provided with raised kerbs.
  • Cycle track along Gain Lane will be adjusted to accommodate the new
larger junction, the route is designated as a cycle track and no amendment is required to the order. The existing junction will be reinstated as cycle track / footway.

The developer will meet Leeds City Council’s staff checking and inspection fees, estimated to be £20,000 staff fees.
