Police have issued a warning to motorists following an increase in arrests for drink driving over the past three weeks, which may be linked to the football World Cup or the hot weather.
Police say 11 people in the Leeds West area have been arrested for driving while over the prescribed limit, which is unusually high for this time of year. A spokesperson said:
“Whether this is to do with football, the nice weather or a combination of both, officers are concerned with the numbers.
“We are often asked what is a safe amount to have if driving, one pint? two glasses?
The only safe amount of alcohol is none. Please do not drink and drive!”
