Horsforth town councillors have been out and about over the past week on Horsforth’s streets, making use of the speed indicator device (SID) to keep a check on speeding hotspots.
Councillors Simon Dowling and Aiden Goulden followed up complaints about speeding on Stanhope Drive with a lunchtime visit to monitor the issue.
Council Chair Gill Garvani was joined by Cllr Dave Brosnan on Victoria Crescent and Newlaithes Gardens and more streets across Horsforth have also been covered during the course of the week.
Councillor Simon Dowling said: “Every street and road we are visiting, and plan to visit, comes directly from concerns raised by local people about perceived speeding.
“Road safety is a key priority for us, and we are committed to being proactive and doing everything within our powers to ensure residents feel heard and supported.
“All of the information we collect will be fed back to Highways, and in cases of more serious speeding concerns, to the police so that further preventative measures can be considered and put in place in the future.”
The SID, which is loaned from Leeds City Council, was also used in April last year in Horsforth as part of the city’s Leeds Vision Zero 2040 strategy.

Did you speed check the lower half of Stanhope Drive? Traffic turning left off the ring road is an issue? Has been for years and mentioned to council. Between 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6 is worse times
I live on topside of stanhope dr it is a problem its20 mph but drivers come of ring road and do not stop at junction no road markings and carry on speeding
