Third John Battle gala draws crowds to Bramley Baths

Bramley Baths hosted their third John Battle Gala which was once again a great success.

Around 100 children competed, with cheering squads of family and friends supporting from the balcony.

Heats and finals took place for all levels across in our swim school, from Tiddlers to Sharks, and this year they introduced additional events for our Junior Triathlon and Rookie lifesavers.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing children of all abilities, supported by the fantastic team of staff and volunteers, competing and being able to take part fully and enjoy the day. The focus of the gala is taking part, having fun, and celebrating everyone involved in their swim school.

David Wilford CEO said: “The event is a testament to the hard working team here at the Baths and a celebration of our fantastic swim school. Congratulations to all who took part and we look forward to next years event.”

They were also delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor Leeds to present certificates and medals to everyone who took part.

But in keeping with swimming galas throughout the long history of the Baths, there was an overall winner who took home this year’s trophy – Kalan Parker, who is the brother of Marley Parker, the winner of the first John Battle Gala.

Bramley Baths provides affordable weekly swimming lessons, for babies right through to adults and are currently accepting new starters across their swim school.
