A safe and friendly environment where visitors can relax and unwind has reopened in its new home.
In July 2025, West Leeds Dispatch reported that Pudsey Wellbeing Charity (PWC) trustees had been asked to leave their wellbeing centre on Robin Lane in Pudsey.
The charity runs several community groups, including a weekly art group, Pudsey Ukuleles, yoga sessions, and Spanish lessons. However, it wasn’t until April 2026 that West Leeds Dispatch could share news of the charity’s new home at St Andrew’s Methodist Church.
By the end of May, the charity confirmed it had successfully completed the move. Thanks to the hard work of dedicated volunteers, the new space was set up, decorated, and made ready for use.
During the relocation, the charity had to temporarily pause its popular Open Door Welcome Space. Despite this, a special coffee morning was held in January, offering a chance for the community to come together.
The volunteer-led Welcome Space officially returned on Thursday, 18 June 2026.
The Open Door provides a safe and friendly environment where visitors can relax and unwind. Guests are welcomed by volunteers and can enjoy a hot or cold drink, along with biscuits. It’s a place to meet new people, chat, or simply enjoy a good book in a warm, comfortable setting. Pudsey Wellbeing Charity is proud to offer this valuable space for the local community and surrounding areas. The Welcome Space is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Trustees Dennis Gibbons and Pat Trenaman spoke about the challenges faced during the move. Despite the difficulties, the future looks promising, with plans to introduce new activities such as Family History Support sessions and a ‘Wizard’ card game group, suitable for all ages.
The charity would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped with the move — from organising and unpacking to heavy lifting and everything in between. It also expresses sincere gratitude to the community for their patience throughout the relocation.
