Talented Jessica May has high hopes for new single

A talented Farsley singer has released her new single.

Jessica May has released her latest single Rescue Me, a guitar-driven pop-rock track blending big vocals with honest lyrics. The song continues the artist’s journey into original music following her debut release Crown Me Unworthy.

Jessica is a familiar face across Yorkshire – and in 2018 she received a West Leeds Dispatch Good Egg award for singing to raise money for good causes. In 2020 she received a Rotary National Good Citizen award.

She said: “I’ve spent the past five years performing live across Yorkshire and I’m now beginning to release my own original music.”

The singer songwriter continues to develop her sound with a track built around big vocals, guitar energy and a chorus designed to be shouted back from the crowd. Following her debut release ‘Crown Me Unworthy’, she hopes the new single shows another side of her artistry.

Jessica said: “The lyrics were written by a close friend and explore a feeling many people recognise: wanting to trust someone while still carrying doubts and insecurities. The song captures the moment of questioning yourself and wondering whether someone might finally prove they’re different.”

The track originally began life as a delicate piano piece, but Jessica wanted to bring her own voice and sound to it. Working with producer Nathan Robinson at Old Chapel Recording Studios – the home studio of the Kaiser Chiefs – they transformed the song into the guitar-driven pop-rock version heard today.

And there was one addition Jessica was determined to include – a guitar solo. A self-confessed lover of a great guitar moment, she knew the song needed something bold. Nathan delivered exactly that, bringing his expertise to create an epic solo that lifts the track into its final chorus.

Inspired by artists such as Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette, Rescue Me blends emotional honesty with a bold theatrical pop-rock edge.

The visual side of the release also celebrates Jessica’s home city. All of the artwork and promotional images for Rescue Me were photographed around some of Leeds city centre’s beautiful backdrops, showcasing the city that has played such an important role in her musical journey.

Rescue Me is available now on all major streaming platforms.
