Yorkshire Water has submitted plans for a storm water storage facility on land off the Ring Road, Farnley.
Plans include a below-ground storm water storage tank, two operational kiosks and six vent stacks, a new access track and construction compound.
The purpose of the development is to create an underground tank to help manage heavy rainfall and reduce the risk of sewer flooding into Pudsey/Wortley Beck.
A design statement submitted with the plan said: “It is considered that the overall scheme balances the need for good design, protecting landscape, trees, highways impacts and ecological features against the need for the project to achieve [regulatory] obligations.”
Work is planned in to start in summer 2026.
Residents are able to view the plans, ask questions and submit comments directly through the planning portal. If you would like us to raise anything specific on your behalf, please feel free to get in touch.
The plans can be viewed in full here.
The project is part of a wider initiative to reduce storm overflow charges into Pudsey Beck via  a new storm water storage tank at Dick Lane, a larger storage facility at Smalewell and proposals to install a wetland off Hough Side Road.
