Plans for a new outbuilding at West Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) have been welcomed by a Bramley councillor.
Plans include the construction of modular office to host meetings, incorporating a new ramp and railings, at the Milestone site in Stanningley.
A design report submitted with the application states: “The modular style building will be located on the south west corner of the site adjacent to an existing classroom building. The plot of land is fundamentally vacant with only a small store pre-fab shed in the location.”
The planning application is supported by Councillor Tom Hinchcliffe (Lab, Bramley & Stanningley).
In a statement on social media, he said: “West SILC is accepting an increasing number of children and young people with SEND, including those with the most complex needs.
“Due the ever-growing demand on the provision, West SILC has taken the decision to give up their meeting room for Governor and staff meetings in order to accommodate more learners.
“This new building would enable staff, Governors and learners to share more space to improve what is an extremely busy environment. The Milestone site, in particular, is in urgent need of further capacity.”
