Members St Thomas Church in Stanningley have been very busy over the past few weeks preparing for a Christmas during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A stable has been built ready to welcome life-size figures of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, alongside two angels, a flock of sheep, two shepherds, three kings and a camel.
All the figures which will be displayed in the church yard from today, Sunday 20th December.
Carols will be played each night from 5pm to 7pm and members will be outside collecting for The Children’s Society. On Christmas Eve members will be handing out DIY Christingles to the community.
Secretary Gill Sissons said:
“We are all disappointed we cannot hold the normal Christingle service. It’s usually the highlight of the year with the church packed with local people. Hopefully this will make up for it and bring a little bit of joy at this very difficult time.”
