It’s going to take more than the coronavirus pandemic to stop Pudsey people celebrating their popular annual carnival.
Thousands of Pudsey folk should have been looking forward to a procession through the town centre and activities and a fun fair on Queens Park tomorrow (Saturday, 16 May 2020).
Volunteer organisers had to postpone the popular annual event back in March – and instead they’re running a series of events online via Facebook to mark the popular May event.
There will be a colouring competition, with past photos of the carnival on the carnival’s Facebook page. People will also be encouraged to share previous year’s photos.
Instead of a dog show there will be a pet competition where you upload your pet on the page through the day. No charge for entry and the winners will get a certificate.
Instead of floats winding their way through the town in a parade, PDS Windows are sponsoring a “virtual” parade featuring floats made out of boxes. No theme. Again, share your photos on the Facebook page.
Local bands will be live streaming. The schedule is:
- 1pm to 2pm James Spencer
- 2pm to 2.30pm Celtic Cowboys
- 2.30pm to 3.30pm Phased Rotation.
Keep your eye on Facebook for more events and details.
The Carnival committee is running a 20/20 fundraiser for a 20th defibrillator in Pudsey for the year 2020. Check out the fundraiser here.
