Students at both Crawshaw Academy and Pudsey Sixth Form College are celebrating their GCSE results.
This year’s outcomes at Crawshaw Academy have continued the academic improvements seen at the school in recent years.
More than half of Year 11 students achieved a grade 5 or above in both maths and English with grade 5 considered a strong pass. At 50.7% this represents a significant increase compared to 45.4% in 2024.
The school has also seen a rise in the number of students achieving higher grades with over 15% achieving grade 7 or above in both English and maths.
Almost a quarter of all GCSE grades achieved were a grade 7 or above. Early analysis of the 2026 national results also shows Crawshaw students performing strongly against national figures. 71.9% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in English, compared with 59.5% nationally, while 72.4% achieved a grade 4 or above in mathematics, compared with 57.2% nationally.
Iain Addison, Headteacher at Crawshaw Academy, said: ““We are incredibly proud of our students and the results they have achieved this year. These outcomes reflect their hard work, determination and resilience, together with the unwavering support of our staff and families.
“It is particularly pleasing to see our results continue to improve year on year, demonstrating the strength of our curriculum, the quality of teaching, and the ambition we have for every young person.”
Students from nearby Pudsey Sixth Form College, off Kent Road, have been celebrating their GCSE results.
One of those students was Anum Naeem, who passed her exams by securing a grade 7 in science, a grade 6 in maths and citizenship, and a grade 5 in English language.
Anum said: “I’m really happy to have passed and really proud of myself. I’ve enjoyed my time here at Pudsey so far – I’ve met new friends and the staff are so lovely. I’m really excited to start studying my A levels.”
Anum is planning on studying biology, chemistry and physics with us and is one step closer to achieving a career in medicine.
Serenity Lawrence, who was also part of our Step Up programme, received a grade 6 in science, two grade 5’s in maths and citizenship, and a grade 4 in English.
Serenity said: “I’m really pleased with my results today – the college has provided me with lots of support to achieve my goals, and I’m excited for the next step.”
Serenity will continue her studies with us by taking on A levels in history, sociology and medical science and aspires to become an interventional radiologist in the future.
Subhaan Khan, 18, achieved a grade 6 in English language, a grade 6 in citizenship, a grade 5-4 in science, and a grade 4 in maths.
He said: “I am extremely happy with my results, if not a little shocked, and it’s all thanks to the staff and teachers who made my experience at Pudsey feel so welcoming and supportive. I’ve really enjoyed my time at Pudsey, everyone was so helpful and supported me along the way.”
Subhaan now plans to progress into further education by studying his A levels with the college.
