Pudsey: Dog exercise fields receive council green light

By John Baron

Plans to change of use of agricultural land to mixed agriculture and dog exercising fields have been approved by Leeds City Council.

Applicant Miss A Jennings has successfully applied to change the use of the green belt land at Alder Drive in Pudsey.

The proposals had drawn five objections from local residents, as well as Councillor Andrew Carter (Cons, Calverley & Farsley). Concerns included highways safety, parking and suitability of access.

The planning history for the site includes a refused application for the same change of use and a recently approved application for residential development on land at Alder Drive.

A council planning officer’s report approving the proposal said it was an ‘appropriate development in Green Belt terms’.

The report added: “The previous reason for refusal relating to highways matters has been addressed through the submission of a site layout plan demonstrating adequate parking provision and through the incorporation of operational controls to manage the intensity of the use.

“Therefore, the proposal would not give rise to unacceptable impacts in terms of residential amenity, character, landscape, highways, ecology or land contamination.”

  1. I can’t stress the importance of adequate and strategically placed dog waste stations. The ones I am thinking of are RUST-PROOF aluminum – durable, rugged, vandal-resistant, fire-safe, and UV powder-coated for maximum protection. Seams that are hand-welded to withstand daily high traffic use and extreme weather conditions.

  2. Another “hard working farmer” raking in the Dosh! How will this country EVER move closer to producing our own food requirements? Too much greenbelt used for nonsense like this* and grazing for hobby horses.
    * If everyone is so broke how ome they can afford someone else to exercise the dog…. what’s wrong with local park?
