Pudsey Carnival 2018 will mark 30 consecutive years with a bumper event on Saturday (May 19).
The event will be opened by Pudsey’s Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson, and there will be Harry and Meghan lookalikes to mark the Royal Wedding that same day.
The parade will start at 11.45am with the judging of the floats by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, before setting off at noon to wind its way through Pudsey town centre.
It will end on stage at Queens Park at around 1pm where the new carnival queen will be crowned and joined by 29 past queens.
Chairman Simon Seary said:
“We have some amazing things planned this year.
“Our popular bus tour will be returning to Pudsey, once again taking in the history of the parade route and hopefully spotting some treacle miners along the way!
“All proceeds from the parade collection and any funds raised during the day will be used to purchase defibrillators to be placed in and around Pudsey – to add to our 12 already sited. – just imagine if everyone attending the carnival gave just £1 to the collection?”
Attractions include a funfair, an owl experience, pets corner, magic mirror photo booth, Alpacas, a Nerf Wars play area, mini football tournament with Pudsey Juniors and Stanningley Albion, an infltable demolition ball and lots more.
Friends of Pudsey Steamroller, Greenside Greenway, Friends of Pudsey Cemetery and Chapel, Pudsey Civic Society, Pudsey In Bloom, Save Tong Valley and other groups will all have information stalls at Queens Park.
