Police launch appeal following dad-of-three’s death on Ring Road

Police are appealing for information from people travelling between Rodley and Horsforth roundabouts following a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Leeds.

At 1.51pm yesterday (Thursday, 12 May), a silver Skoda Fabia was being driven by a 24-year-old on the A6120 Ring Road Broadway towards Horsforth, when it knocked over a male pedestrian.

The pedestrian has today been named as 49-year-old Dean Miles, from Horsforth. He was described as ‘full of life’ and the ‘perfect father’ who was ‘devoted’ to his three children.

The driver of the vehicle received minor injuries and has been arrested in connection with this incident.

Road closures were in place in both directions, causing long tailbacks, but were removed yesterday evening.

The Major Collision Enquiry Team is investigating the incident and is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who was in the area between Horsforth roundabout and Rodley roundabout between 1.30pm and 2pm who may have dash cam footage of the vehicle or the pedestrian prior to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact MCET on 101, or by using the 101LiveChat function on the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log 0840 of 12 May.
