On a dark cold November night a West Leeds running group marked their return from lockdown with a social event following their regular run session of about 70 members.

Bramley Breezers formed in 2016 as a social running group in Leeds 13.

They meet every Monday and Wednesday 6.30pm at The Villager Sports & Leisure Club on Broad Lane.

They have groups for all abilities including walking, run walk, running groups from 5-11km.

Their qualified leaders ensure that the groups go out and return together – as their motto is: “No-one gets left behind.”

Annual Membership (April-March):

  • £10 social
  • £20 affiliated

What the run leaders say:

Yaz Sahel told West Leeds Dispatch:

“By being a run leader it keeps me motivated and I enjoy the social aspect of meeting and supporting the runners.”

Paul Bennett said:

“I enjoy seeing people achieve things they never thought possible, whether it is running 5k or a marathon and seeing so many new friendships formed.

“Bramley parkrun and the Breezers have brought joy to so many people. Bramley is a much better place with the Breezers.”

What the runners say…

Frances Russell said:

“I love it. It’s fully inclusive on all levels. I do recommend it, especially if people are doing parkrun.”

Tom Trousdale added:

“Before Breezers I had no motivation to run on my own and only did 5km. By meeting Breezers at parkrun and then coming to Breezers it pushes me to run further and keeps me motivated.”
