Services were held at war memorials across West Leeds today to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE (victory in Europe) Day.
The speech given by King George VI on VE Day in 1945 was read at a service of thanksgiving and remembrance at Bramley War Memorial.
Wreaths were laid as people from Bramley, Stanningley and beyond remembered the service personnel from the community who gave their lives in service to their country during World War Two. Children from local schools also attended and wreaths were laid.
Community reporter Jo Fiddes captured some of ceremony with her camera:

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Abigail Marshall Katung, this morning marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day by laying a wreath at the city’s war memorial.
