There will be a special addition to this year’s advent windows in Calverley – and local children are being asked to help design it.

The Landmark Trust, which owns Calverley Old Hall, is to unveil its window featuring an owl as featured in the family crest, on December 16.

Local children will be able to decorate the feathers for the owl using the template on the Trust’s website and e-mailing it back to them.

Advent windows, which have been organised by Creative Calverley are already being unveiled as part of the Christmas celebrations in the village. There’s a new window each day in December up to the 24th, all are featured on a map downloadable from the website.

There are also 120 elves hidden around the village to be found in the Great Calverley Elf Hunt in aid of Friends of Parkside School. The hunt gets underway following the Christmas lights switch-on this Friday (4 December)
