A popular Chinese restaurant on Town Street in Stanningley is to close after 26 years.

Owners Alvin and Gee have announced they are standing down from running the North Sea Chinese restaurant.

A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page read:

“After much consideration and discussion, we have made a hard decision and we regret to announce that we will be closing the restaurant. The last day of business will be the 23rd of June 2018.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal customers, friends and staff for everything. It has truly been a pleasure!

“We invite – and hope everyone feels welcome – to come join us in the weeks before we close and on our last evening.”

Customers posted their shock at the closure decision.

Darren Lewis wrote:

“Gutted .. so many memories .. so many great times. You will be sadly missed. Love you all.”

Deborah Wilkie added:

“Wishing you all the best for the future. Thank you for all the happy times we have had with you. Can’t imagine no North Sea. Certainly end of an era.”

  1. We had the first wedding reception ever at the North Sea in July 1988 which was perfect in every way. We hope we can book before the closure, and thanks guys for the fantastic food and service over the years.

  2. Judging by the building site next door where the pub used to be, somebody made an offer for the land that the owner couldn’t refuse. Expect to see the building demolished shortly.
