Kirkstall pub applies to improve beer garden

A Kirkstall pub garden could be extended and improved, if plans submitted to Leeds City Council are approved.

The Vesper Gate, off Abbey Road, has submitted plans for a new rear window at the pub and an extension of a timber pergola and patio area to cater for people who may wish to drink or dine outside.

A planning statement submitted with the application said the proposals were important tp help maintain the viability of the pub and added: “The works are a direct response to the recent Covid 19 pandemic / current economy problems and the need to provide improved outdoor seating areas and generally enhance external spaces.

“This is to support the overall viability of the premises and to meet the changing demand of customers, many of whom prefer outdoor spaces.”

The plans can be viewed in full here. Leeds City Council is aiming to decide the planning application by April 7.
