A resident from Cygnet Social Care’s Kirkside Lodge in Kirkstall rose to the occasion by hosting a heartfelt bake sale to raise money for charity.
Based on Spen Lane, Kirkside Lodge is a residential care service that supports adults with learning disabilities.
The Cygnet Social Care resident raised £261 for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that offers support and advice to those with cancer and their families.
He was inspired by the charity’s mission to support everyone who is affected by cancer and decided to host a coffee morning in aid of the good cause.
As a regular attendee of Kirkside’s Bakery Project, the individual baked a variety of goods, including brownies, cupcakes, cookies and sausage rolls to sell.
“We are very proud of our resident’s generosity and determination to create all the baked goods,” explained Stacey Monsarrat, Bakery Assistant at the Cygnet Social Care service.
“He worked really hard to create a memorable day for all who attended. The day was a huge success as Macmillan Cancer Support relies on donations so this was a great cause.”
The charity event also featured a tombola, with prizes donated by staff, to keep donations rolling in.
Stacey added: “Charity fundraising is important for our residents at Kirkside Lodge as it helps bring communities together, supports the understanding of different good causes and spreads awareness.”
