Horsforth projects are funded by councillors

Planters, Horsforth Festival and art classes are amongst the projects in Horsforth which were granted funding by the Outer North West Community Committee.

Councillors from Adel & Wharfedale, Guiseley & Rawdon, Horsforth and Otley & Yeadon wards discussed a raft of funding applications at last night’s meeting, which was held at Horsforth’s Grove Centre.

A number of decisions were taken affecting projects and initiatives in Horsforth. These included:

• £4,998 for Summer Arts Club, to provide art classes for young people aged seven to 14 in Horsforth. There will be 12 events across six weeks of the summer holiday.
• Horsforth Town Team will receive £2,529 to provide three planters, including seating, on New Road Side. The planters will also be part of a joint art project with local children and young people.
• £1,610 for Horsforth grit bin refills and new bin on King George Avenue.
• Volunteers from Horsforth in Bloom received £500 to cover costs in maintaining Jubilee Gardens. The money would provide items such as compost and plants, ensuring that it is sustainable and climate resilient while providing an attractive natural space.
• CCTV cameras in Horsforth were re-funded to the tune of £5,000. This will cover the cost of providing and monitoring cameras at the Old Ball roundabout, New Road Side, and Horsforth Town Street. Councillors had funded the scheme in previous years.
• £2,000 for Horsforth Town Team towards Horsforth’s community festival, which will be held in Hall Park on Saturday, 27 June.
• £500 from Horsforth’s funding pot towards the Outer North West Community Youth Summit. 
• £590 towards diversionary, challenging and rewarding activities primarily during school holidays to young people engaging with the Youth Service.
• £300 towards the Great Get Together, a free and accessible event at Calverlands Complex Needs Centre in Horsforth in memory of Jo Cox, designed to bring communities together. The event will be run by LCC Care Delivery Day Services.

Funding for projects from the other three wards were also be decided.
