Local community organisation HAVA are welcoming local residents and the community to come along to next weekend’s family fun day and dog show.
The event is taking place on Saturday, 13th August, at 12pm on Cragside Walk Fields in the Hawksworth Wood Estate.
Building on the great success of last year’s event, which marked the launch of a campaign to help rid Hawksworth Wood from the blight of dog fouling, Leeds City Council and HAVA have once again come together to arrange a community fun day and dog show.
There will be activities for all the family as well as promoting the more serious message about the importance of picking up after our dogs.
Cllr Fiona Venner, local councillor for Kirkstall Ward said:
“We had an amazing turnout for the dog show last year, and word is spreading that dog fouling is simply not acceptable. This year’s event will be bigger and better and we would like to invite local residents to come along and join in the fun!”
As well as the popular dog show which sees a return of categories such as ‘waggiest tail’ and ‘best sausage catcher’, there will be lots to do and see for all the family, including a hog roast, guided countryside walks, arts and crafts stalls, and sports, inflatable and climbing activities to name just a few.
Police, Housing Leeds and Leeds City Council’s Youth Service will also be there providing information about the services they provide. The event is run by HAVA (Hawksworth Wood Abbeydales and Vespers Area) community organisation.
