Plans to place 42 storage container units on land off Bramley Ring Road have been unanimously approved by councillors.
Members of the Plans Panel West gave the green light to the proposed temporary siting of 42 double stacked storage container units with associated parking on disused land to the east of Spring Valley Estate and Ring Road Bramley and opposite the Stanningley Bypass.
A council report said permission is sought for only three years as the land is earmarked for future housing development.
“The containers would be positioned in an ordered layout, forming rows with a maximum height equivalent to two standard shipping containers stacked vertically,” the report states.
The containers would be used solely for storage purposes. Access to individual units would be limited to authorised users, and the level of activity is anticipated to be modest in nature.
A planning officer’s report added: “Significant weight has been given to the three-year limited time consent agreed with the applicant.”
The proposals were approved unanimously.

So it’s gone from land proposed for housing to land now for industrial storage containers for next 3 years and still the entrance to the Spring Valley Estate remains narrow and with poor visibility from the ring road for car users due to the overgrown verges and the volume of speeding traffic at that very narrow junction.
