A beautiful and crisp Christmas morning saw runners of all ages and abilities take to parks in Armley and Bramley for their weekly run – with a festive difference.

In Bramley, organisers saw 29 awesome volunteers support 97 athletes, who ran, jogged and walked across finish line.

Some turned up in fancy dress, as the photographs by Simon Cullingworth below show.

One passer-by, Judith Pollard said: “I took my dogs on the park when parkrun was on – a lovely atmosphere! I was wished a lot of happy Christmases by a lot of friendly Bramley folk, and so did my dogs with their Christmas jumpers on.”

And in Armley 22 volunteers supported the 106 people who ran, jogged or walked the course in Armley Park.

An Armley parkrun spokesperson said: “We absolutely loved all your festive outfits! And it was wonderful to see everyone back together again this year, celebrating Christmas morning with the parkrun family.

“Next week we’ll be hosting a special New Year’s Day parkrun event. Hope you can join us to celebrate the New Year.

“This parkrun can only happen if we have enough volunteers. We’d be really grateful if everyone could volunteer every so often as a contribution to this free event. If you would like to be a hi-viz hero this Saturday or any other week, please contact armley@parkrun.com.”
