Farsley Farmers Market returns to kick-start an action packed weekend in the village

A Farmers Market, a community festival, a funfair with live music, a blooming great gardening session and a great get together – this is the action packed weekend Farsley residents are set to enjoy! writes Keely Bannister.

The weekend starts with the return of the popular Farsley Farmers Market.

The monthly market, which is held at St John’s Church on New Street this Saturday morning from 9am until 12.30pm, will see an array of local, artisan businesses in attendance to present their wares.

Balloon modeller, Mrs Twist, will also be at the market until 12pm, creating balloon sculptures based around the “up in the air” theme chosen for this year’s Farsley Festival.

The annual festival, which WLD previewed in full earlier this week, will be held at Hainsworth Park from 12pm until 5pm.

If you are a fan of Farsley Farmers Market and you are attending the festival later in the afternoon, play the tombola for a chance to win £25 worth of vouchers redeemable at either the July, September or October market.

As an added treat for excitement seekers, Farsley Celtic Football Club are hosting their first Farsley Festival Weekender this weekend.

While the amusement park will be open over Thursday and Friday evenings, the main activities including live music, will be happening on Saturday and Sunday.

To round things off on Sunday, Farsley in Bloom are hosting an activity morning on Sunday from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Meeting on Water Lane, the group will be replanting flowers on Water Lane and Andrew’s Square as well as freshening up planters on Bagley Lane.

Farsley The Great Get Together]

At 4pm on Sunday afternoon, everyone is welcome to join the pizza party at St John’s Church on New Street as Farsley takes part in The Great Get Together – a yearly celebration in memory of murdered MP, Jo Cox.

People will be able to make their own pizza, children can enter a bake-off and take part in games.
