The stars came out to bat for Farsley Cricket Club’s fundraising efforts in memory of a beloved ex-player whose tragic death rocked the club.
Emmerdale star Chris Chittell – who plays Eric Pollard in the long-running TV soap – was among the huge crowd at Red Lane as the club hosted a charity match in memory of Chris Smith, who died of a heart attack in November.

Mr Smith, 50, previously played for the club where his parents had been members for more than 50 years, and was well-loved by all involved at Farsley.
Mr Chittell is a veteran of Emmerdale All Stars, a charity cricket team which Chris’s brother has also played for.
Spectators were treated to a pie and pea supper while a raffle and tombola was also held during the event.

In total, the Bradford League outfit raised £1,114 for the Take Heart Charity, which supports the health and well-being of cardiac patients within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The club welcomed back an all-star cast of former players for the poignant 40 overs game, which saw the winners claim the inaugural Daikin Chris Smith Trophy.
Chairman Richard Whitaker said: “His close friends and family came together to organise the charity match, which we more than happy to host.
“We had a great turnout and people spent a few quid, so we’re delighted to be able to hand over a decent amount to the foundation.
“Chris was one of the good guys, he was quiet and unassuming with a dry sense of humour. He was a really lovely guy and he will be sadly missed by everyone at the club.”

Farsley Cricket Club has three senior teams, four junior teams and a T20 team, supported by a team of dedicated volunteers and coaches.
