A redundant block of buildings at the Butterbowl Works, off the Ring Road at Farnley, will be demolished after Leeds City Council planners gave the go ahead.
Applicant Nigel Chippindale, from Chippindale Plant, said the old block of buildings – based at the back of the site – is “past the end of its design life and no longer maintainable”.
The demolition proposals would leave the site as a hardcore standing and would take around six weeks to complete, with work carried out from 7.30am to 4.30pm weekdays and weekends – if required – between 7.30am to 1pm. The demolition doesn’t affect Chippindale’s other offices on the site.
A council planning officer’s report concluded that the proposed method of demolition and site restoration were acceptable.
