Plans to transform two former Pudsey Park visitor attractions into a tropical-themed educational space and cafe have moved another step closer to reality.
Just days after granting planning permission to turn the disused glasshouse in Pudsey Park into a jungle cafe and classroom, council chiefs have announced their intention to ‘dispose’ of both the glasshouse and the nearby West Leeds Country Park Visitor Centre.
Junglebox Ltd aims to transform the buildings into an education and community resource containing classrooms embedded within rainforest settings.

In a notice posted on the Public Notice Portal this week, Leeds City Council says it intends to ‘dispose’ of the two buildings.
It says: “Any person who wishes to object to the proposed disposal should submit written representations to Legal Services Leeds City Council, Civic Hall, Leeds LS1 1UR no later than the 30 March 2026.”
The full notice can be read in full here.
The notice is a significant step forward for the proposals as Junglebox continues to negotiate with the council over the terms of a lease.
The glasshouse in Pudsey Park closed in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic and subsequent council budget cuts. Junglebox is also hoping to reopen the nearby former West Leeds Country Park Visitors’ Centre as a community and educational space.
Council bosses first invited expressions of interest for the former visitor centre and glasshouse in Autumn 2022.
