Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect access to cash across the UK, says it is ‘currently working to secure’ a permanent base for the new Horsforth Banking Hub.
As reported by WLD last month, Cash Access UK opened its temporary home in Horsforth Community Hub in February, following the closure of the town’s last bank branch.
Customers of all major banks can visit any weekday between 9am-5pm to carry out regular cash transactions including cash withdrawals and deposits as well as checking balances or paying bills.
Additionally, the hub offers a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank in a private space about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub. This runs on:
- Monday: Lloyds
- Tuesday: Halifax
- Wednesday: NatWest
- Thursday: HSBC (coming soon)
- Friday: Santander
While the hub in Horsforth is now up and running, Cash Access UK says it is “currently working to secure a long-term home” for the banking hub, which will offer the same services. Local residents can check for updates on its website.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “The hub is available for everyday banking transactions every day of the week, and for more specific or complex enquiries, a community banker will be on-site to assist on designated days.”
Councillor Asghar Khan, Leeds City Council’s executive member for communities, customer service and community safety, added: “We know that many of our residents prefer to do their banking in person, sometimes because they do not have access to the internet or because they simply prefer to use cash.
“It’s great to see the new temporary banking hub open at Leeds City Council’s Horsforth Community Hub, making sure that people can have easy access to face-to-face banking services.”
