Breaking: Major fire near Blue Hill Lane, Wortley – UPDATED

UPDATED 9.59pm:
The building, which is on nearby Fawcett Lane, has been identified locally as Cliff House, a listed building which used to be used as a remand school for delinquents. It has stood empty for a number of years.

One local resident told The Dispatch:

“The area is full of flashing blue lights, really sad to see such a beautiful building on fire, you can see the flames coming through the roof. Never seen so many firefighters and engines!”


ORIGINAL POST:
Eight fire appliances are currently attending a major blaze in the Blue Hill Lane area of Wortley.

West Yorkshire Fire Service says appliances, officers and specialist appliances from around the county are dealing with a fire at an old school building.

Tw breathing apparatus and two hose reels are currently in use.

No persons are involved.

West Yorkshire Police are on the scene, Blue Hill Lane is currently closed to traffic.
