Runners donned top hats, veils and wedding dresses to celebrate the upcoming wedding of two Bramley parkrunners.

The special ‘hen and stag do party’ run marked the upcoming wedding of Rachel Fisher and  Paul Hollings.

Rachel accepted Paul’s marriage proposal to a round of applause and a big cheer from dozens of fellow runners in Bramley Park in September 2018.

The two had met at Bramley parkrun, so it was apt that friends, family and fellow parkrunners joined in  the celebrations at Bramley Park ahead of their wedding in early April.

Rachel said she clearly remembered the day Paul proposed.

“He seemed really nervous that morning, and I thought it was because he was run director for the day, but it was nothing to do with that!

“My mum and dad were there. I went and stood with Paul to give him some support as run director. I wouldn’t believe it when he dropped to one knee and proposed.

“I just kept spinning around in joy! I was overwhelmed. And the crowd’s reaction was lovely. They were applauding and cheering. They were so happy for us.”

Paul added: “It was definitely the proposal that made me nervous, not being run director for the day.

“We had to involve the parkrunners as they played such a part in making the proposal special,, and here is where I met Rachel.”

“If you’re single and looking for someone, come to Bramley parkrun!” joked Rachel.

The hen and stag do run finished with a toast to the couple and cake,
And the parkrun will play a part in the happy couple’s wedding, with some of the signs from the course appearing at the evening do.

Bramley parkrun is held every Saturday at 9am.
