Bramley Breezers and Bramley parkrun join forces for ‘couch to 5k’ celebration

Saturday, 21 March saw a very happy group of people after completing their couch to 5k journey with a full uninterrupted 3.1-mile Bramley parkrun. 

Group run leaders from local club Bramley Breezers have led the participants throughout the past ten weeks starting with mainly walking then increasing walk/run intervals leading to a full 5k run.

Participant Andy Walker said: “It has been very tough but really enjoyable and I am feeling very proud of myself.”

Sara Young added: “The parkrun and Bramley Breezer community have been really supportive and welcoming and we have had so much encouragement.”

Another of the graduates, Leah Swallow, felt this programme is “great for people to getting back into running after a break.”

Group run leader Ella Cook, who instigated the course, says she “feels very proud of the group’s achievements in the past weeks”.

And Michelle Warner added: “I have really enjoyed supporting the group, it’s nice to help people.”

Parkrun is a weekly timed run, jog or walk at 9am on Bramley Park. Register on the website to obtain your own personal barcode which you then scan each week for your time.

Bramley Breezers meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at The Villagers Club, Broad Lane LS13 2HF. Meeting time is 6.30pm. They host walk and run groups for all abilities.
