Plans for eight assisted living units have been submitted for disused land off Whitehall Road in Wortley.
The new units would be built in two blocks, near the junction with Dunlop Avenue, and include landscaping, parking and access.
The proposals have been submitted to Leeds City Council by care company Bridge Community Care and include parking for 16 cars and four cycle spaces.
A planning statement submitted by the developer concludes: “The proposal represents a sustainable redevelopment of a disused brownfield site, of a high design quality, providing a purpose-built care facility that meets identified needs for specialist housing in Leeds District.
“It will create local jobs, deliver high-quality design, and make efficient use of land in line with the policies of the Leeds Development Plan and Framework guidance.”
The plans can be viewed in full here.
Leeds City Council expects to decide the application by 20 May. Comments can be submitted until 28 April.

Excellent news and hope it goes ahead soon. Besides being a much needed facility it will hopefully sort out the mess left when they built the Dunlop estate and left the old entrance road and abandoned eyesore. Can’t understand how council allowed it to happen 🙁
