An Armley Sunday walking group has celebrated its first birthday in style, writes Louise Cunningham.
Through the seasons – come rain or shine, dog or no dog – Armley Walkies has met every Sunday morning.
They have been adopted by Bramley-based charity BARCA Leeds, no pun intended, as part of their Better Together Project and an excellent example of a community health walk.
Since forming, friends have been made, human and canine and members have been involved in other community ventures such as litter picks and dog shows, and had a Christmas Jumper walkies on Christmas Eve.
A regular of Walkies said:
“These people have turned out to be some of the most brilliant friends I’ve had in ages. We’re a total mish-mash of awesomeness and I think that’s why it works so well.”
The group celebrated yesterday with a cake made by one of the junior members. New members are always made welcome.
Regular updates are made on the group’s Facebook page.
