Armley: Nursery aims to expand to meet demand

An Armley nursery could be expanded to meet rising demand for its services.

Christ Church Church Of England Primary School, in Theaker Lane, has applied for planning permission to extend the existing school nursery building to increase capacity from 30 children to approximately 50. It aims to provide improved teaching accommodation, support facilities and accessibility.

A planning statement submitted with the planning application concludes: “The proposed extension and internal alterations to the existing nursery bungalow at Christ Church C of E Primary School represent an appropriate and sustainable form of development.

“The proposal has been carefully designed to meet operational requirements whilst respecting the heritage significance of the Armley Conservation Area. Existing access arrangements, parking provision and drop-off arrangements remain unchanged.

“The development will deliver enhanced nursery accommodation, improved accessibility and increased educational capacity whilst preserving the character and appearance of the Conservation Area.”

The plans can be viewed in full here.
