Armley-based social enterprise FixIT Leeds is urgently seeking new premises so that it can take on more volunteers and continue to provide its services to the community.
The IT co-operative has started a crowdfunding appeal to help fund its move, offering people the chance to swap donations for, among other things, custom spraypainted laptops and a computer-building course.
About FixIT Leeds
FixIT differentiates itself from other computer repair-shops and retailers by selling refurbished internet-ready computers at very cheap prices.
By doing this they can provide computers for people who want to develop their IT skills, but may have previously struggled to afford a computer of their own.
These computers are refurbished by volunteers, who learn valuable computer skills as they work.
FixIT, which is not for profit, diverts electronic waste from landfill by taking donations of unwanted computers and re-using as much as possible.
Anything unusable is sent to an environmentally responsible recycling company for safe disposal.
FixIT is currently located in the heart of Armley, above Armley Junk-tion at 1a Chapel Lane, just off Town Street, but are looking for new premises in Armley and other inner-city areas of Leeds.
