Fire crews battled a fire at an empty nightclub building in Armley for three hours last night.
West Yorkshire Fire Service said the fire on the ground and first floors of the former Upstairs Downstairs nightclub affected about half of the building.
Four large jets were used to extinguish the fire, which started at just before 9pm last night.
Two appliances from Leeds and one from Stanningley attended.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
Plans to turn the building into a day nursery were approved in January 2017 but the interested business never moved in.
Upstairs Downstairs nightclub had become a magnet for crime and anti-social behaviour and closed in 2009.
