A council-run activity centre in Armley is set to become more eco-friendly, after plans were submitted to install three air source heat pumps at the popular facility.
West Leeds Activity Centre is based off Lenhurst Avenue, and a planning application submitted to Leeds City Council say the new pumps, which help lower carbon emissions by taking warmth from the air outside to supply heating and hot water, even when temperatures get as low as -15C.
Additionally, a solar PV scheme is proposed to the centre’s roof.
A design statement submitted with the application said: “The project is to be delivered to improve the centres long-term energy viability and sustainability.”
