Following successful planting sessions in March, three community orchards in West Leeds need green-fingered volunteers once again.
The orchards at Stanningley Park, Fairfield Hill and Bramley Fall Woods need care and attention after a stressful summer of high heat and low rainfall. Everyone is welcome to attend Watering and Weeding sessions as outlined below.
- Stanningley Orchard – Thursday, 3 September, 11am to 1pm.
- Fairfield Hill – Friday, 4 September, 10am to 12pm.
- Bramley Fall Woods – Friday, 11 September, 10am to 12pm.
No experience is necessary, just energy and enthusiasm.
The orchards are funded thanks to ABCD (Asset Based Community Development). Community Builder Alaina Dunne said “ABCD is all about celebrating the positives in a community and identifying its assets. They can be places and green spaces or they can be people and their skills and talents.”
