Apartment plans submitted in Wortley

By John Baron

A detached house in Wortley could be demolished and replaced by a block of nine apartments.

London-based developer The Land Specialist Projects Ltd has applied to demolish an existing detached house on Blue Hill Lane are replace it with a two and a half storey apartment building.

There would be a single one-bedroom apartment and eight two-bedroom apartments.

The proposed development would also include nine car parking and ten cycle spaces. Eight of the apartments would have two bedrooms, with one having one bedroom.

A design statement submitted with the application states: “All apartments are proposed as open market housing, aimed at single occupants and couples seeking high-quality starter homes within an established residential area.”

It concludes: “The proposal delivers a balanced and sustainable form of development that aligns with all relevant national and local planning policies.

“It achieves social, economic and environmental gains without giving rise to any adverse impacts that would significantly or demonstrably outweigh the benefits.”

Concerns over traffic and parking have already been expressed locally on social media.

The plans can be viewed in full and commented on here.
