Rachel Reeves MP to speak at West Leeds and Bramley Credit Union AGM

A West Leeds organisation which offers financial services to local residents is to hold its AGM this weekend.

West Leeds and Bramley Credit Union is run by volunteers and is a savings club and community bank for local people living and working in Bramley and West Leeds.

Guest speaker is Leeds West MP Rachel Reeves, who is also the chair of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee. She said:

“West Leeds and Bramley Credit Union is a fantastic asset to the local community offering accessible banking, savings opportunities and low-cost loans to local people – unlike expensive high street lenders and loan sharks. Credit Unions are for everyone and unlike commercial banks, all profits are returned to their savers.”

Credit union volunteer Sheena Hogg said:

“Bramley Community Shop is our home, where we are available on Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays between the hours of 10am and 12pm for enquiries, deposit into savings accounts and discussing the possibility of a loan.

“I still think that the CU is one of Bramley best-kept secrets.”

The AGM is at Bramley Community Centre on Broad Lane from 10.30am on Saturday, 17 February 2018. Tea and coffee will be available.
