Four arrests following suspected drugs lab discovery

Four arrests have been made after a suspected drugs lab was uncovered following warrants in Leeds earlier this week.

At around 7am on Tuesday 21 July, officers from the Economic Crime Unit carried out a number of warrants at addresses in the Adel and Wortley areas, and a lab was found on Whitehall Road.

Three men aged, 46, 44, 38 and a woman, aged 36 have been arrested on suspicion of money laundering and the supply of drugs. They have been bailed pending further enquiries.

It’s believed the set-up was producing illicit medication.

Nine firearms were also seized in a second warrant on Farrar Lane.

Detective Inspector Chris Lord of the Economic Crime team who is the operational lead for the operation, said: “We take a proactive approach to tackling organised criminality and we know the supply of drugs fuels crime and violence in our communities.

“The substances found at the property are not for human consumption and we urge people to avoid buying illicit medication.

“It is advised that the public avoid the current sites while officers gather evidence but continue to report anything they see in their communities that could be suspicious.”

If you see something that doesn’t look right, if you are worried about someone, or something looks suspicious, please report to West Yorkshire Police by calling 101 or online using www.westyorkshire.police.uk/livechat.

There is also a specific online reporting form for reporting drug use or drug dealing which is available here.

Alternatively, information can also be shared anonymously with the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
