People are being urged not to travel this morning as snow causes chaos on the roads in Leeds.
Bus services across the city are disrupted – latest details on individual services here.
A Leeds council spokesperson said bin collections have been suspended for the day. If your bin’s been missed, leave it out until Thursday and refuse crews will attempt to catch up. Black bins will be prioritised for collections.
Council household waste sites are also closed all day. The spokesperson added:
“community hubs and libraries will be closed in Leeds today. Our gritters were out yesterday evening and throughout the night but the heavy snow is causing disruption across the region. Follow police advice and don’t travel unless you need to.”
Gritters will be targeting primary routes throughout the day.
Coronavirus vaccinations are continuing as scheduled for people with booked appointments, the NHS has said.
Dr Phil Wood, Senior Responsible Officer for the West Yorkshire Vaccination Programme said:
“However, we are advising those people who have booked a COVID-19 vaccination today to only travel if they feel safe and confident in doing so. Their safety is very important to us and if there is any doubt, people should rearrange their appointment for another time.
“No-one will lose their opportunity to have a vaccine. People who have been invited through the national booking system can call them to rearrange their appointment and will get an alternative date for their vaccination. Those who have been offered a vaccine through their GP should contact their practice directly to rearrange if they cannot make their appointment.
“NHS telephone lines will be very busy today with people calling to rearrange their appointments, so people shouldn’t worry if they get through straight away. We will make sure everyone who needs to reschedule their vaccination gets a new appointment as soon as possible.”
