Police have warned that West Leeds has experienced an increase in burglaries where suspects have exploited vulnerabilities in cat flaps.
Householders are being urged to check their cat flaps are secure and keep keys safe after a spate of burglaries. A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson added:
“Suspects typically reach through the cat flap and steal keys in close proximity of the door.
“Please keep your keys in a safe place, out of reach of crafty thieves! If you have sash jammers, use them.
“Report any suspicious activity either online or via 101. Dial 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress.”
