Armley professional boxer Josh Wisher has a new manager in Denzil Browne having signed a contract with Browne and well-known northern boxing events promoter Dennis Hobson.
Josh, who runs The Ministry of Boxing him in Armley, said: “I’d like to thank my former manager Mark Bateson for the start he’s given me allowing me to win my first four professional fights these last two years. But I’m very excited now to have signed a new deal with Denzil Browne and Dennis Hobson Promotions. I’m looking forward to boxing more frequently with longer, harder bouts against more challenging opponents.’
Browne is himself a former professional who competed between 1990 and 2004 including fighting for British and Commonwealth titles. Hobson is a highly experienced promoter having organised world title fights involving the likes of amongst others Ricky Hatton, David Haye and Clinton Woods.
“We’ve signed Josh Wisher one of the hottest boxing prospects in Leeds,” said Browne.
“We will make him a champion. The journey starts now,” promoter Hobson added.
“I’d like to thank all my sponsors and supporters for their continued backing,” said Wisher. “And I hope to see you all soon as I start this new stage in my boxing journey, as always onwards and upwards.”
Wisher’s first fight under Browne is likely to be in November. He has a number of personal and business sponsors in Pro-Clean UK, Firecrest Construction, TW Electrical – Yorkshire, VFM ROOFING and his own gym The Ministry of Boxing located in Moorfield Road, Armley and which has just celebrated its first birthday.
Trainer and dad Phil added: “Josh has enormous potential but will always be deeply rooted in the West Leeds community he loves. It would be great if more local people and businesses would sponsor him as he aims to become the most successful boxer ever from West Leeds.”
