Volunteers take down Pudsey’s Christmas lights – and appeal for people to support 2022’s festivities

Volunteers in Pudsey braved the heavy rain to take down 350 Christmas trees, box up 4km of Christmas lights and put them all into storage for another year.

The helpers included three ladder teams and supporters in Pudsey House who untangled and boxed the lights, which meant the volunteers finished taking down the Christmas lights in one morning at the weekend.

Cllr Simon Seary, from the Pudsey Christmas lights committee, said:

“Thank you to everyone who has either helped take the lights and trees down, made a donation offered us a work of support or even made us a cup of tea – it’s all greatly appreciated.”

Volunteers are hoping to raise £1,000 to support next year’s Pudsey Christmas Lights. Make a donation here.

Lights in Swinnow in Tyersal were taken down on Friday evening.
