Tree damage scuppers Bramley parkrun following Storm Otto

Saturday’s Bramley parkrun was called off amid concerns for people’s safety due to fallen trees.

As reported by WLD on Friday, a number of trees had been blown down and been damaged across West Leeds on Friday during Storm Otto – including Bramley Park.

The parkrun team was forced to issue a statement on social media on Saturday morning to let runners know about the late cancellation, amid concerns other trees may be damaged and unsafe.

“Unfortunately due to a fallen tree and Leeds City Council parks department just arriving in the park to check for safety of other trees we are having to cancel today’s event,” they said.

Trees had also fallen over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal on Friday.
